About

I didn't choose eating disorder nutrition work because it was convenient. I chose it because I believe everyone deserves to feel at home in their body.

For nearly 20 years, I've walked alongside people who are exhausted from the battle with food: the endless dieting cycles, the guilt that follows every meal, the fear of eating in public, the quiet suffering of a child who won't touch anything on their plate. I've seen what healing looks like on the other side. And I've learned that it's possible — for almost everyone, with the right support and the right approach.

I don't believe in willpower or discipline as the answer. I believe in understanding your body, your history, and your relationship with food — and building something sustainable from there.

Meredith Alvarez, RDN

I'm Meredith Alvarez, RDN — a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I've spent nearly two decades specializing in eating disorder recovery and disordered eating, and I bring that depth of experience to every client I work with.

My approach is weight-inclusive and grounded in evidence-based nutrition therapy. I'm trained in Family-Based Therapy (FBT) for adolescent eating disorder treatment — which means I work with the whole family, not just the individual. I'm also a Certified LEAP Therapist, which allows me to support clients dealing with food sensitivities and digestive health issues without falling back on the overly restrictive elimination diets that often make things worse.

I work collaboratively with therapists, psychiatrists, physicians, and other members of your treatment team. If you're in recovery and already working with other providers, I can step right into that team. If you're just getting started and aren't sure where to begin, I can help you figure that out too.

What I don't do: shame, rigid meal plans that ignore your life, or one-size-fits-all approaches.

What I do: listen carefully, meet you where you are, and help you build a relationship with food that actually lasts.

When I'm not in sessions, you'll find me cooking with my family, traveling to and exploring new places, hiking, or trying new restaurants with my family.
